Is your Community Water System up-to-date?

In 2009 the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) modified the Pennsylvania Chapter 109 Safe Drinking Water regulations to incorporate the federal Groundwater Rule. This modification requires that Community Water Systems (CWS maintain at least a 4-log treatment of viruses for all entry points.

The 4-log treatment refers to the level of inactivation of viruses that needs to be in place while groundwater enters the disinfection system before entering the community’s distribution system.

DEP has issued a mandatory submission of proof of 4-log treatment of viruses for  Community Water Systems according to the following schedule:
